I'm 20 and I'm from Singapore.
This is a quick sum up of my year so far:
I came out earlier this year, and to my family sometime in July. I didn't go very well, probably because I thought it would. I don't think I was naive before, but I assumed that times are different now and that people are less... stupid? Evidently, we're not there yet.
We took in a 3-month-old pup: Bagel the beagle. His hobbies include chewing furniture, humping on towels, and headbutting into my crotch.
I found out that cats are banned in public flats and that my cat of 7 years, my own love, in is danger of being "impounded" to the SPCA if my house gets spot checked. I've decided that if a man comes in here and tries to take her away I'll break him apart and go to jail.
Turning 20 this October forced me to reassess my life. I've been wasting so much time on things that I never even truly cared about. I've been pretending - for whatever the reason I was caught up in - and now I feel derailed. But also filled with a renewed determination to be a better person, to dare to care, and to dare to speak up. I hope this feeling lasts
